Wrapped

Seven palm trees sit at the front of Tom Sewell's art estate. To contrast the bright cheery palm trees and surroundings with a dark twist, mannequins were attached to the trees and wrapped with cloth as if they were cocooned onto the trees themselves.

 

This installation delves into darker side of dichotomies such as freedom/repression and community/isolation. Visually the cocoons represent various concepts such as conformity and a sheltered life.
